What is Reiki?

The word "Reiki" comes from the Japanese and consists of the two syllables "Rei" and "Ki". "Rei" means "universal", "divine" or "spiritual" in the sense of "emanating from the soul", while "Ki" (Qi) is translated as "life energy" or "vitality". Together, "Reiki" means something like "universal life energy" or "divine vitality". It refers to the idea that there is a universal energy that flows through all things and affects our lives and health, and that a Reiki practitioner is able to channel and use this energy to bring about healing and relaxation to promote.

Where does Reiki come from?

Reiki is a form of energy treatment that is based on Buddhist healing teachings that are more than 5000 years old. In the early 20th century, it was rediscovered, practiced and taught again by a Japanese monk named Mikao Usui. As discussed above, the word "Reiki" means "universal life force energy" or "spiritual energy" and is believed to flow through the hands of the Reiki practitioner to empower and aid in the healing of the recipient.

How does a Reiki treatment work?

During a Reiki session, the recipient lies comfortably clothed on a couch or seated in a chair while the Reiki practitioner places their hands on or near the recipient's body. The Reiki practitioner then directs the energy through their hands into the recipient's physical and spiritual bodies.

What can Reiki help with?

Reiki is commonly used for relaxation, stress relief, and to promote general well-being. It is also used as an adjunct to other medical treatments to aid in the healing process. Many people report positive results and a deep relaxation during a Reiki session.
